ESOL
English for Speakers of other Languages
We have a specially trained ESOL teacher- Heather Silk, who works with those children Year 3-8 who who would benefit from explicit English language support in listening, speaking ,writing and reading. These children usually work in groups.
Maths Support Teacher
This year Sandi Seil (who is passionate about the teaching and learning of Mathematics) has been released from the classroom to concentrate on teaching children who are struggling in their Mathematics . These children will have a daily session of Mathematics as well as their in class session.
Sandi will also be working in all the classrooms.
Learning Support
Learning Support
Our trained Teacher Aides work with individuals, groups of children as well as providing in class support. Children who participate in learning support programmes have been referred to the Learning Support team by their classroom teachers.
The Board of Trustees provides additional teacher staffing and teacher aide resourcing,
above and beyond government funding, to support children with their learning at Wharenui.
