Play is the Way
‘Play is the Way’ is a social and emotional learning methodology using interactive games and activities. There are 5 guiding concepts and 6 key virtues that form a pathway to empathy. Teachers utilise an empowering self-reflective language focusing on the skills of self-control, self-motivation, empathy and
managing relationships.
At Wharenui School our staff are engaged in ongoing training and the programme is utilised by teachers and children on a daily basis. We aim to put students in control of their thoughts, feelings and actions through the use of specifically designed games and empowering shared language throughout our school.
